• The episode parodies Star Trek’s “Amok Time” which is about Spock suddenly acting irrational, so he returns to his home planet to undergo a ritual while Kirk tags along too, but is mocked for being an outsider.
• “…the time of The King.” Elvis Presley made multiple films and hosted a famous live concert in Hawaii.
• The cruise ship sunk in a similar way as in the film Titanic.
• The newscaster adding “hmm…” after saying Barack Obama is a “native Hawaiian” could imply that he is a birther.
• This past weekend Ben Affleck’s latest film (he directed) Argo was released to great reviews and a decent box office. Ben Affleck has previously been spoofed in “How To Eat With Your Butt”, “Fat Butt and Pancake Head”, “200”, and in Team America’s “The End Of An Act” (aka “Pearl Harbor Sucked”).
